From Earth to Art – a must see instrument exhibit in the SGV
Unplug your phones and televisions and go see this exhibit, it will not disappoint you! Its takes place right here in the San Gabriel Valley! It’s a magnificent tribute to local artisans and Luthiers who make hand crafted music instruments of the finest quality.
The exhibit will display both traditional and non-traditional instruments like guitars, drums, cajons and stringed instruments as well as one of kind sound sculptures. Several artisans will demonstrate their skills, show their individual styles, and share their knowledge and passion for sound. You’ll get a chance to see the work of famed cajon builder Michael Kotzen ( www.tonecajon.com ). He table cajons and custom carved legs cajons are world renown, just ask cajon owners Mick Fleetwood or Pete Escovedo. Other instrument builders like Henry Barnes, Kristen Erikson, Frank Falbo, and Martin Maudal will display their amazing work.
The Exhibit also includes local artists from the American Museum of Ceramic Art. Together they have added a special feature for this exhibit. Well known artist Angel Once will paint a 6 foot Custom Cajon built by Michael Kotzen. In addition, there will be a Full Moon Drum Circle led by Jason LaMotte to kick off the exhibition.
